How Hybrid Car Technology Works
Most people are aware of and concerned with the fact that our world is dependent upon oil to function. Car companies are seeing a trend towards becoming more independent from the oil industry by designing and building hybrid cars. Hybrid car technology is a growing industry with hopes of making a change in all of our futures.
Information Behind Hybrid Car Technology
The hybrid car technology combines two types of engines under the one hood of the car. On the one side of the hybrid car is the traditional gas powered engine, on the other is the electrical powered engine. Both of these engines can work separately, or they can even work together to give the car more power.
The hybrid car technology uses computers to determine which engine is needed. In situations where a car is moving slower or sitting in traffic, the computer will switch to the electrical engine. This saves on the gasoline that the car is using and makes this hybrid car technology very efficient.
In hybrid car technology, the electrical engine is automatically put into a recharge mode by the computer too. This means that when the electrical engine is not being used it is in a system where it can recharge its battery. The hybrid car does not need to be hooked up to an outlet to recharge. For many consumers there is the image of the car in the garage hooked up to an outlet to get the battery recharged, and that this will take hours to achieve. The truth is that with this hybrid car technology, the electrical battery is constantly being charged and the car is always ready to go.
Hybrid car technology does also use an engine that needs gasoline to fuel it. This side of the engine is turned on when the car needs more power, like driving on a highway. By using the gasoline powered engine, the car uses less fuel and saves the consumer both money and helps the environment. With the use of both engines, the hybrid car can maintain speed and has good pick up and go power.
Hybrid car technology uses computers to help determine when each engine should be used to make the hybrid car a vehicle that is easy on gas usage and also powerful enough to drive cross country. Hybrid car technology is the wave of the future and will continue to be an area that car manufacturers work on to improve.
